Living in Fontainebleau, France

Fall semester of 2019

Our Apartment near INSEAD

This is the street Rue Royale. The apartment is a 5 minute walk from ISEAD. INSEAD has 2 campuses; one in Fontainebleau and the other in Singapore. The faculty travel between the two campuses as needed and the apartments are available to them for temporary residence. We were lucky to be assigned an apartment for Fall semester otherwise we would have had to go through the hassle of renting an apartment for 5 months.

The apartment is tiny but enough for a sabbatical stay for the two of us. The chef can be seen preparing dinner.

Fontainebleau

The city of Fontainebleau is 45 mins away from Paris. It is known for the Chateau and the forests that surround it. French royalty used it as their dwelling when they went hunting in the surrounding forests. Napoleon Bonaparte had his coronation here and was sent to exile from here. Below are pictures of the Chateau and the garden.

This is the carousal at the city center, lit by night lights. Its very lively here and there are many restaurants on this street. Our favorite baker Dardonville is very close to this square.
